Mr. Terry Dao, Chairman of the Extra Mile Charity Foundation, participated in the opening ceremony of the Research Centre for Design for Safety at Hong Kong PolyU. During the event, Ir Prof. POON C.S. representing the university presented him with a letter of appreciation.

The construction industry is filled with various risks that can lead to accidents, financial losses, and adverse environmental impacts. As the industry evolves, these risks continue to change, necessitating innovative approaches to manage and mitigate hazards. The Extra Mile Charity Foundation, upon learning about establishing the Research Centre for Design for Safety at The Hong Kong PolyU, hopes to contribute to safer construction methods through interdisciplinary research and strategic industry partnerships.

The foundation's donated of the <VR Construction Training Platform> provides resources for safety research in the university's construction field. Beyond addressing educational needs for students, the foundation aims to leverage its expertise in safety design and innovation to create a harm-free environment and achieve zero fatalities within the construction industry.
